Thiruvananthapuram: The state cabinet has approved the list of public holidays for 2026, with Maundy Thursday newly included under the Negotiable Instruments Act. As a result, all banks and financial institutions will remain closed on that day.

For establishments governed by the Labour Law, Industrial Disputes Act, Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, Minimum Wages Act, and related legislation, only the holidays specified under the Kerala Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act will apply.

A local holiday has also been declared for Holi on 4 March 2026, applicable to state government offices and public sector undertakings operating in New Delhi.
