Kerala’s move to support the transgender community through job reservations marks a major step toward inclusive public employment policies.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Higher Education Department has recommended implementing reservation for transgender individuals in government jobs. Minister R Bindu stated at a press conference that the Public Service Commission (PSC) has been requested to consider this demand. A seat had already been reserved earlier for transgender individuals in college admissions.
Reservation will also be extended to LLB admissions. In addition, a job training programme will be organised in collaboration with the Knowledge Economy Mission, the Minister added.
This year's Transgender Arts Festival, titled “Varnappakittu”, will be held in Kozhikode on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On the opening day, a national seminar will be conducted with the participation of representatives and experts from states that have implemented transgender policies.
Awards will be presented to transgender individuals who have showcased excellence in various fields, and the inauguration will also include the announcement of a housing scheme.
