Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala police will investigate corruption allegations levelled against a prominent CPM leader by G Sakthidharan. In a recent social media post, the former associate editor of CPM mouthpiece ‘Deshabhimani’, had claimed that he had helped a senior CPM leader in packing over Rs 2 crore rupees into two large reed mats at an office in Kaloor years ago. Sakthidharan was sacked from the party almost two decades ago.

Congress MP Benny Behanan had filed a complaint in connection with the journalist’s accusations. However the police has not registered a case so far, but instead decided to collect statements from Sakthidharan based on his Facebook post. He was summoned by the police officials on Tuesday. The Thiruvananthapuram cantonment assistant commissioner will submit a report to the DGP following the quizzing.
