Thrissur: The alleged scam at CPM-led Karuvannur Cooperative Bank in Thrissur continues to fume within the party. The CPM stand over the issue has created discord in the party bottomlines.

Area committee members raised objection and protested at the branch meeting conducted to report the disciplinary action. In many places, senior leaders were stumped by the questions raised by the members.

Madayikonam School branch members working under Sujesh Kannat, who were ousted for pinpointing the irregularities, forwarded their resignations. Branch Secretary PV Prajeesh and branch member KK Prabhakaran forwarded their resignations to local secretary MB Raju.

Meanwhile, Raju claims that PV Prajeesh opted to be relieved from the duties of branch secretary and it has no connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank issue while Prabhakaran too requested to be discharged from the duties due to his health issue. Both have not resigned, he said. They just asked to be relieved from their duties, he claimed. He added that they will be relieved after the branch conference.
