Idukki: Action will be taken against a policeman for allegedly leaking official information to the SDPI. The investigation report backing the allegation of leaking information was submitted to the Idukki District Police Chief.

Idukki native CPO Anas PK is the accused in the case and was issued a show cause notice.

The report was submitted to the District Police Chief by the DySP of Narcotics Cell G Lal. Anas is accused of having handed over the details of RSS leaders collected by the police as part of official data collection to the SDPI. The information was shared with the SDPI leader through WhatsApp. The policeman is likely to be removed from service. The show cause notice was issued to Anas by the District Police Chief prior to this.

A KSRTC driver was attacked by SDPI activists in Thodupuzha for posting communally sensitive content on Facebook. The information leak was found when the police inspected the mobile phone of Vannappuram native Shanavas, who was arrested in connection with this case.

CPO Anas was found guilty in the preliminary investigation. He was shifted to the district police headquarters following the arrest and later suspended from police. A detailed inquiry was initiated later on.
