Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to determine the leadership of its local governments for the next five years, with voting scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday.

The Phase 1 open campaigning for the state’s local body elections will conclude on Sunday, while campaigning for Phase 2 will continue until Tuesday. 

On Tuesday, elections will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam.

The second phase of the local body elections will take place on Thursday in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, with campaigning concluding by Tuesday.

The voting will commence at 7 am and will conclude at 6 pm. Although elections were announced for 23,576 wards in two phases, there was no voting in 14 wards in Kannur district. There is no opposition to the Left candidates in these wards. A total of 75,633 people are in the fray in both phases.
