Thiruvananthapuram: In a major embarrassment for the Kerala government, the electricity supply to the Sree Avittam Thirunal Hospital (SAT) on the Government Medical College Hospital campus was interrupted for around two hours on Sunday. A huge protest is ongoing at the hospital.
The power outage reportedly affected the women and children wards at the hospital. According to a report by Mathrubhumi News, Health Minister Veena George stated that KSEB officials were notified immediately upon discovering the issue and emphasized that there are no problems in the emergency department.
Adding to the crisis, the generator reportedly failed after the power failure. The PWD electrical department is working to restore power, said officials. Tensions escalated as more police were deployed to the hospital amid the ongoing protests.
