Kochi: Kerala Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan on Thursday said that the state government should be willing to release a white paper detailing the financial crisis faced by Kerala. He went on to criticise the government for attempting to conceal reality by throwing an event like 'Keraleeyam' at the expense of crores.

"Last day, the government said in the High Court that the state is going through severe financial crisis. As a result, the government cannot even provide a guarantee. The state government also faced heavy criticism from the High Court. Amidst all this, the government is spending crores to host Keralaeeyam to hide the crisis," Satheesan said.

The Congress leader also questioned the point of organising such an event and chastised the government for wasteful spending when the state couldn't even finance mid-day meals in schools.

"We challenge the government to publish a white paper illustrating the state's financial difficulties. The state is going through a severe financial crisis" he added.
