Kochi: The Kerala High Court voiced its displeasure over the persistent use of illegal flex boards in the state in spite of its ruling prohibiting their use.

Justice Devan Ramachandran stated verbally that the Kerala government is not taking appropriate measures to remove illegal flex boards and hoardings from public spaces.

The court was examining petitions seeking to restrict the use of illegal flex boards and hoardings. Sarada G Muraleedharan IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Local Self Government Department, appeared in the court on behalf of the government.

The court also questioned whether the government could levy Rs 5000 from those installing illegal flex boards and hoardings.

Meanwhile, the government informed the court that they had removed 40 lakh illegal hoardings. The court also instructed the government to furnish details on the fine levied from violators. Additional Advocate General Ashok M. Cherian informed that the government will examine the matter concerning the levying of fines in the matter.
