Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has approved a working capital of Rs 10.5 crore to revive textile mills under the purview of the state industries department. This funding will facilitate the reopening of five previously closed mills.
Among the mills set to benefit are Prabhuram Mills in Alappuzha, Kottayam Textiles in Kottayam, Edarikode Textile in Malappuram, Sitaram Textile in Thrissur, and the Thrissur Cooperative Spinning Mill in the cooperative sector, operated under TexFed.
The reopening of these mills is anticipated to take place ahead of the Onam festival, as confirmed by minister P Rajeev. The mills that require renovations will undergo gradual improvements through a well-structured master plan. The minister also underscored the government's commitment to achieving self-sufficiency for these mills.
