Kerala government allocates ₹20 crore to ensure pensions and welfare benefits for retired Anganwadi workers.

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 5 (PTI): The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹20 crore to support the pension and welfare benefits of retired Anganwadi workers and helpers.
Finance Minister K N Balagopal announced that the financial aid was granted to the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Welfare Fund Board to ensure timely disbursement of pensions and death benefits for retired members and their families.
“Since the Board lacks financial self-sufficiency, various benefits are distributed with government assistance,” Balagopal said in a statement.
The Minister noted that while the Board currently receives ₹2.15 crore monthly as its welfare fund share, it requires ₹4.26 crore each month solely for pension payments.
He added that over the past four and a half years, the state government has provided a total of ₹76 crore in financial assistance to the Board.
