Thiruvananthapuram: The decision to appoint a new Chief Secretary and DGP for the state was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. While Dr V Venu was selected as the new Chief Secretary of Kerala, Sheikh Darvesh Saheb will take charge as the state’s new DGP. The decision comes after Chief Secretary V P Joy and DGP Anil Kant are set to retire on June 30.
While Dr V Venu belongs to the 1990 batch of IAS, Darvesh Saheb belongs to the IPS batch of the same year. Dr Venu has earlier served as the home secretary, Darvesh Saheb, who is known for his friendly demeanour, was recently appointed as the director general of fire and rescue services.
