Thiruvananthapuram: The electricity board has issued a notification levying surcharge for the month of July as well. From July 1 to July 31, the board has decided to collect a surcharge of 9 paise without the prior approval of the regulatory commission. This will add on to the nine paise surcharge already sanctioned by the commission. Hence, consumers will have to pay a total of 18 paise as surcharge in the month of July.
The commission has allowed KSEB to collect surcharges up to the month of November. Due to the increase in fuel price, KSEB had incurred an extra expenditure of Rs 19.66 crores in the month of May. Now, through the surcharge levied for the month of July, the board expects to cover the extra expenses so far.
