
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) dropped the projects worth Rs 15,386 cr announced during the 'Ascend Global Investor Meet 2020' hosted by the state government. It is learnt that these projects were dropped as founding it impractical to implement in the state.
This includes a project worth Rs 1500 cr announced by Joy Alukkas, construction of a hotel by Qatar Dalwan Group for Rs 1000 cr near Kannur airport, Aeropolis project in Kannur airport, and many others. Additionally, projects estimated to bring in an investment of Rs 5003 cr were also temporarily halted. KSIDC said that several reasons including the situation caused by the Covid-19 forced authorities to drop these projects.
Meanwhile, projects worth Rs 808 cr were only implemented in place of the Rs 30,542 cr investment that came through the meet. The authorities said that paper works are ongoing for projects worth Rs 9345. At the same time, 31 projects were implemented, 27 were discarded, and 37 others were halted temporarily. The details came to light after an Ernakulam native filed an RTI demanding the status of the projects announced by the state government.
