Kochi: CPM has decided to move a contempt of court case against Customs Commissioner Sumit Kumar over alleged leaking of confidential statement of gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh against the Chief Minister. CPM leader KJ Jacob has approached the advocate general seeking action over contempt of court procedures against Sumit Kumar.
Following this, the advocate general has served notice to defendant parties including Sumit Kumar.
It is learned that Sumit Kumar and others will be asked to give an explanation before the advocate general. If the advocate general grants permission, KJ Jacob will forward a contempt of court case.
Matters in the confidential statement should not be revealed. It will affect the case, pointed out the complaint moved by KJ Jacob.
The confidential statement of Swapna Suresh before the court was revealed in another case filed by the jail superintendent.
The complainant alleged that Swapna’s statement was disclosed with political motives.
