Kochi: A local Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader was found hanging inside the party office at Udayamperoor in Ernakulam district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Pankajakshan, former secretary of the Nadakkavu CPM local committee. Preliminary reports suggest that financial difficulties may have driven him to take the extreme step.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted and have begun further investigation into the incident.
