Cherayi: In a clear deviation from the official stand of UDF regarding Waqf amendment bill, Kerala Congress leader Francis George MP has said that his party will take a favourable stance when the bill would be presented in Parliament. He said that both he and his party are ready to cooperate with anyone for justice and fairness.  

He was speaking at the conclusion of the 24-hour night protest initiated by the Assembly of Christian Trust Services (ACTS) as part of the relay hunger strike being conducted by the Munambam Land Protection Committee, which has been ongoing to restore revenue rights for the people of Munambam. The protest reached its 101st day when he inaugurated the event.

He expressed full support for the Central Waqf Act in Parliament, stating that both as a people's representative and as a political party representative, he fully agrees with the new Central Waqf Act. He clarified that this is the clear stance of both himself and his party, and when the bill is presented in Parliament, they will make their position clear and offer support.

He emphasised that natural justice must be ensured in Munambam, and no compromise should be made in this regard. He stressed that they are firm on this issue and will take a strong stand during the discussion of the bill to ensure a permanent solution. He also said  that the central government should not backtrack on presenting this bill due to pressures.
