Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, K M Abraham, has written a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan alleging a conspiracy against him and seeking an investigation. He has demanded that the enquiry be conducted by a team led by an IPS officer.
Abraham stated that it is up to the Chief Minister to decide whether he should continue in his position. The moves against him are intended to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister’s Office, he said in the letter.
According to the letter, a conspiracy was orchestrated against him under the leadership of social activist Jomon Puthenpurackal. Two others who held top positions in public sector undertakings were also involved in the conspiracy. Abraham stated that he had exposed their corruption during his tenure as Finance Secretary. He claimed to possess audio recordings of phone conversations between the three individuals. The conspiracy, he alleged, began in 2015.
It was in the context of the Kerala High Court ordering a CBI investigation into a case of alleged disproportionate assets against him that Abraham wrote the detailed letter to the Chief Minister.
Abraham recently stated that Jomon Puthenpurackal’s legal move against him was driven by personal animosity. Abraham claimed that he had imposed a fine on Jomon during his time as Finance Secretary for misusing a rest house, which became the cause of the enmity.
Former Vigilance director Jacob Thomas is also allegedly involved. Abraham said he had identified financial irregularities amounting to Rs 20 crore against Jacob Thomas.
Abraham alleged that the court issued the order for investigation against him without examining all the documents. He claimed that bank records related to his wife were not reviewed. He added that the commercial complex in Kollam is based on a contract with his brothers, and that there are documents to support this.
Abraham has also consulted lawyers about filing an appeal against the order.
The allegation against him is that he amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure as Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) in 2015.
