Thiruvananthapuram: In the state budget presented here on Friday, the government has made the following allocations to various monuments and research centres:

  • Rs 2 crore for building Renaissance Study Centre under the name of Kerala renaissance movement hero and freedom fighter P Krishna Pillai, at his birthplace, Vaikom
  • Rs 2 crore for building Kathakali Study Centre in the memory of Kottarakkara Thampuran, at the birthplace of the dance form Kathakali
  • Rs 1 crore for building Chavara Cultural Research Centre in the memory of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, at Mannanam
  • Rs 1 crore for building a memorial for famous musician MS Vishwanathan at Palakkad
  • Rs 2 crore for building a memorial for Cherusseri Namboothiri in Kannur’s Chirakkal
  • Rs 30 lakhs for building a statue and memorial hall for Kerala renaissance movement hero Pandit Karuppan at Cheranallur, opposite to Al-Farook school
  • Rs 1 crore for revamping Thunjan Parambil Research Centre at Tirur
