Chennai: The Southern Railway has announced the extension of services for eight special trains operated by the South Central Railway to cater to passenger demand. The extension period for these trains ranges from December 1, 2025, to January 23, 2026.
Among the special trains receiving an extension are those operating to and from Kerala. According to an official release, the extended trains include:
- Train No. 07191 Kacheguda–Madurai Special (Mondays) from December 1, 2025, to January 19, 2026.
- Train No. 07192 Madurai–Kacheguda Special (Wednesdays) from December 3, 2025, to January 21, 2026.
- Train No. 07193 Hyderabad–Kollam Special (Saturdays) from December 6, 2025, to January 17, 2026.
- Train No. 07194 Kollam–Hyderabad Special (Mondays) from December 8, 2025, to January 19, 2026.
- Train No. 07219 Narasapur–Tiruvannamalai Special (Wednesdays) from December 3, 2025, to January 21, 2026.
- Train No. 07220 Tiruvannamalai–Narasapur Special (Thursdays) from December 4, 2025, to January 22, 2026.
- Train No. 07230 Hyderabad–Kanniyakumari Special (Wednesdays) from December 3, 2025, to January 21, 2026.
- Train No. 07229 Kanniyakumari–Hyderabad Special (Fridays) from December 5, 2025, to January 23, 2026.
Advance reservations for these special trains will open at 2 p.m. on November 13, 2025, from the Southern Railway end.
Meanwhile, Southern Railway on Wednesday announced changes in the pattern of train services, including rescheduling and regulation of several train services across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh between November and December 2025.
According to the official statement, two major trains departing from Dr. MGR Chennai Central have been rescheduled:
- Train No. 12657 Dr MGR Chennai Central – KSR Bengaluru Superfast Mail, scheduled to leave at 10:50 p.m. on November 26, will now depart at 1:30 a.m. on November 27 (a delay of 2 hours and 40 minutes).
- Train No. 22649 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Erode Yercaud Superfast Express, scheduled to depart at 11:00 p.m. on November 26, will now leave at 1:40 a.m. on November 27 (late by 2 hours and 40 minutes).
