Appointments to various Kerala boards and corporations remain stalled as UDF convener Adoor Prakash protests the Chief Minister’s unilateral decision-making.

Alappuzha: Even as the United Democratic Front (UDF) government’s administration has entered its sixth month, office-bearers for various boards and corporations are yet to be appointed.
It is said that the failure to appoint office-bearers is currently due to the public protest by UDF convener Adoor Prakash. The UDF meeting has also not been convened.
Since coming to power, the UDF has met only once. On that occasion, the constituent parties were asked to submit lists of their desired appointments. Accordingly, they handed over their lists. The lists were also submitted to the KPCC through the DCC presidents.
However, as the UDF meeting has not been held, the lists could not be scrutinised to reach a decision.
Adoor Prakash had alleged that the meeting was not being called because the Chief Minister, who is also the UDF chairman, had failed to take the initiative.
He protested against the Chief Minister making decisions without properly conducting meetings or discussing matters with the leaders. He has also submitted a complaint to the AICC.
Adoor Prakash was also irked by the fact that he was not informed about the appointment of M K Muneer as the chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission, as well as the appointment of office-bearers to various academies.
It is reported that the Chief Minister is of the view that a separate front meeting is unnecessary since the key leaders are already part of the cabinet meetings.
Only the appointments of chairmen and secretaries have been made in the academies and other bodies. Members are yet to be appointed to the executive committees and general councils.
