Rajendran’s son lit the funeral pyre sans any religious ceremonies. The state unitedly bid a red salute to the stalwart who was known for his steadfast opinions and unwavering political stance.

The 13-hour long cortege arrived at Rajendran’s residence around 3 AM on Sunday. The journey was delayed by several hours because people thronged the places from where the procession passed. After the public homage at the district committee at 1 AM, the mortal remains were taken to the leader’s Kanam home. By 7:30 AM, the body was kept for homage in the courtyard.
