Thrissur: Celebrity candidates Film producer Nelson Ipe and actor Thilakan’s son Shibu Thilakan were defeated in the local body polls.

Nelson Ipe is the producer of Mammootty starrer ‘Madhuraraja’ directed by Vaisakh. He contested as UDF candidate from Vyssery, 5th ward in Kunnamkulam municipality.

He was lost to LDF candidate PM Suresh by 218 votes. When Suresh secured 426 votes to win the seat, Nelson obtained only 208 votes.

Actor Thilakan’s son Shibu contested the polls as BJP candidate from 25th division of Tripunithura municipality. He lost to LDF-backed independent candidate CA Benny.
