Kozhikode: The CPM has decided that they need not surrender to the protests against giving Kuttiady seat to Kerala Congress (M) in the assembly election. CPM Kunnummal area committee meeting decided that seat should not be taken back from Kerala Congress. Central committee member Elamaram Kareem and district secretary P Mohanan also took part in the meeting. Kuttiady constituency comes under the limit of Kunnummal and Vadakara area committees.
Once the party takes a decision, it follows the same without fail. So, they need not give in to the protests, the area committee decided. They also decided to conduct a march and an explanatory meeting in Kuttiady on March 14. Though the protests were conducted demanding to field K P Kunhahammed Kutty, the party organised the committee meeting ensuring Kunhahammed Kutty’s presence in it.
The meeting also evaluated that the protests in Kuttiady will not affect nearby constituencies like Nadapuram, Vadakara and Perambra. Similar decisions are likely to be taken in Vadakara committee meeting to be held on Thursday. Elamaram Kareem and P Mohanan are attending this meeting as well.
CPM supporters had conducted a protest rally in Kuttiady in protest over giving the eat to Kerala Congress (M) Jose K Mani faction. Thousands of party workers took part in the rally and held explanatory meeting. Party local committee members and branch secretaries also took part in it. Following this, high level leaders started making moves to pacify them.
