First it was planned to conduct elections in the second week of May in two phases. CBSE exam dates were declared after this. Class 10 and 12 exams were scheduled between May 4 and June 10. In March, there are SSLC and Higher Secondary exams also. So, it is more likely that elections would be conducted in April. The Election Commission is planning before starting preparations.
The previous assembly election was held on May 16 in 2016. Counting of votes was on May 19 and the cabinet sworn in on May 25. The Election Commission officials will discuss the situation in Kerala and the ideal time for conducting the election, when they visit the state next week.
