Alappuzha: Election Commissioner Teeka Ram Meena has instructed for postal voting facility for elderly persons above 80 years of age in the Assembly elections to be held next year. He gave instruction in this regard while addressing the meet convened to evaluate the preparations ahead of Assembly elections.
More importance should be given to renewal of voters list. Two months should be given for this. Preparations should be carried out viewing the possibility of Assembly election in April, May months. Those who are 18-year-old as on January 1, 2021 can be included in voters list. While removing names from the list the person concerned should be notified, he added.
If the elections are held during Covid pandemic, an additional polling booth should be set up with over 1000 voters, he further instructed.
