
Kochi: IUML leader PK Kunhalikutty has appeared before the Enforcement Directorate here on Thursday. According to reports, the ED officials will record Kunhalikutty’s detailed statement into the alleged money laundering case related to Chandrika daily.
Meanwhile, the IUML leader informed that ED summoned him as a witness in the case.
“I was not summoned for interrogation into the case. Such reports are baseless. There is some hidden political motive behind the case,” responded Kunhalikutty.
It is learnt that ED summoned Kunhalikutty as being the director board member of Chandrika daily.
Though ED directed him to report at the Kochi office around 11 am, he arrived there at 4 pm along with his lawyer.
ED sought an explanation from Kunhalikutty over a transaction of Rs 10 cr to a bank account operated by Chandrika daily during the demonetization period.
Earlier, ED interrogated major representatives of the daily. It is hinted that ED will question Kunhalikutty to recover details on the source of money and its utilization.
