Police block Jacobites who try to re-enter churches taken over by Orthodox faction

Mullanthuruthy: The Jacobite church has decided to direct the members to re-enter the churches taken over by Orthodox church through a court order. Following this, some Jacobite church believers tried to enter Mullanthuruthy church and Kayamkulam Kattachira St.Mary’s church on Sunday. Police rushed to the two churches and blocked the Jacobites.

Meanwhile, the Orthodox church members have informed that they will move legally if the Jacobites decided to protest.

The Jacobite members arrived at Mullanthuruthy church after offering prayers at the nearest church. The believers led by Jacobite church metropolitan trustee Joseph Mar Gregorius staged a protest in front of the church and offered prayers.

Police blocked the protesters from entering the church. Police camped in front of the main door of the church and declared they would not be allowed to enter the church.

Mullanthuruthy church possessed by the Jacobites was taken over by the Orthodox faction as per the Supreme Court order.

Jacobite faction members including priests headed to the churches on Sunday and declared that they will enter the churches taken over by Orthodox faction. Over 100 believers and priests are staging a protest in front of Mullanthuruthy church.

The police also blocked Jacobites at Kayamkulam Kattachira church on Sunday. Predicting chances of conflict, a huge police force was deployed.
