Kozhikode: The police officer who investigated the Kathua fund misappropriation case involving Muslim Youth League (MYL) national general secretary CK Subair and state general secretary PK Firoz has been suspended.
Kunnamanagalm Inspector Yusuf Nadutharamel was suspended by the city police commissioner Rajapal Meena on Thursday. The Kunnamangalam judicial first class magistrate court had dismissed the police report citing lack of evidence against the accused in the case. In the report, the case was described as being fabricated and politically motivated.
“The police was suspended as he did not carry out the investigation in a proper and accurate manner,” City police commissioner Ashish Meena told Mathrubhumi.
The case pertains to the allegation that crores of rupees were misappropriated from the funds collected by the Youth League’s national committee to aid the families of the victims of Kathua-Unnao cases. The complaint was lodged by then Youth League’s national committee member Yusuf Padanilam.
Magistrate VP Abdul Sattar had ordered to issue summons to the accused in the case a few days ago. The case will be again considered by the court on February 9, 2024.
