Kozhikode: In a development to the Kathua fund misappropriation case involving Muslim Youth League (MYL) national general secretary CK Subair and state general secretary PK Firoz, the Kunnamangalam Police, who carried out the investigation, stated that the case was fabricated and a false complaint was filed against the leaders over political rivalry. The police submitted a probe report in this regard before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Kunnamangalam the other day.

The case pertains to the allegation that crores of rupees were misappropriated from the funds collected by the Youth League’s national committee to aid the families of the victims of Kathua-Unnao cases. The complaint was lodged by then Youth League’s national committee member Yusuf Padanilam.

CK Subair was named the first accused in the case. According to the case, Subair advertised on newspapers on April 19 and 20, 2018, for crowdfunding to provide legal support for the families of victims in Kathua and Unnao rape incidents. The case was charged under section 402 of IPC.

According to the police report, the complainant was unable to produce documents to substantiate his claims. Further, Yusuf Padanilam had left the committee following disagreements over fund collection and later tendered his resignation. This could have led to political grudge leading to the fabrication of a false case, police findings stated.

The police report also sought to include the case under false ones and withdraw any further action. The left front had even weaponised the case against PK Firoz, who contested from Tanur, in the last Assembly polls.
