Kasaragod: A 92-year-old man succumbed to heatstroke in Kasaragod on Saturday. The incident occurred around 2:30 pm. The deceased has been identified as Kunjikannan, a native of Valiyapoyil.

The incident took place while he was on his way to a relative’s house. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Cheruvathur, but doctors were unable to save his life. Hospital authorities stated that heat stroke was the cause of death.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for six districts in Kerala, warning of unusually high temperatures on Saturday. Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Kannur are expected to experience extreme heat.

As per IMD predictions, temperatures in Kollam, Palakkad, and Kozhikode could reach 37°C, while Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, and Kannur may record highs of 36°C—marking a 2 to 3°C increase from the usual levels.

Hot and humid conditions are anticipated in these districts, excluding hilly areas, on Saturday and Sunday. The combination of rising temperatures and increased atmospheric moisture is likely to make the weather feel more intense.
