Kannur: The last message of ADM Naveen Babu, who died by suicide hours after being subjected to public rebuke, was for Revenue Junior Superintendent Premraj and it was sent from the ADM’s mobile phone at 4.58 am on the day of his death.  In the message, Naveen Babu shared the phone numbers of his wife and brother.

The post-mortem report indicated that he died between 4.30 and 5.30 am.

The post-mortem report, released on Tuesday, confirmed that Naveen Babu’s death was indeed a suicide. The report stated that he died between 4.30 and 5.30 am.

Meanwhile, new indications from the Land Revenue Joint Commissioner's report suggest that no witness statements or evidence have been found to substantiate the bribery allegations against Naveen Babu.

There is no evidence or witness testimony to support the claim that Naveen Babu deliberately delayed processing the file for granting the NOC (No Objection Certificate), according to the latest information. The allegations against Naveen Babu included deliberately delaying the file for approving a petrol pump and accepting a bribe for issuing the NOC.

By Monday evening, the police had completed recording the statement of the Kannur District Collector in this regard.

Former District Panchayat president P P Divya, who had raised bribery allegations against the ADM, has not yet given her statement. The family of Naveen Babu has accused both P P Divya and the District Collector of conspiring against him in connection with these allegations. However, the Collector told the media that the police would record his statement only as a witness.

At a farewell function for the ADM, Divya had accused Naveen Babu of engaging in corrupt practices in granting the NOC for the petrol pump and claimed to have evidence to support this. She also mentioned that she would release the evidence when necessary. Hours after Divya's allegations, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu was found hanging at his quarters at Pallikunnu in Kannur on last Tuesday morning.
