Kottayam: The ‘love trap’ case in Kaduthuruthy here is turning more mysterious day by day. Police had earlier confirmed that all the youngsters who have been remanded had ill intentions.
Police said that they are yet to find out how the accused made the money to stay in lodges and for other expenses. The locals alleged that the accused received help from the locality and couldn't have carried out a crime of this extent without support. 

The police investigation revealed that all accused are drug addicts and dealers. The Excise Department had warned about the alarming rise in the number of drug users among students unlike seen before. 

It is hinted that the girls ensnared in the love trap and their friends have shared more information with the police. Most of the youngsters in the gang are from Malappuram, Kannur and Kozhikode districts. 

Reports said the youngsters who came from other districts stayed in Kottayam to trap the girls. According to police, the accused were camping in the area for a long time to hatch and execute their plan. Police also found that they depended on drug sales to find an income. Officials have urged caution in the regions nearby as the presence of similar gangs is expected.

The accused who have been remanded are identified as Kannur natives Mishab Abdul Rahman (20) and Jishnu Rajesh (20), and Kozhikode native Abhinav (20). Kannur native Sankeerth (22) is on the run. Police arrested three accused based on the statements of three girls of Class XI and Class XII. According to reports, around 15 girls have fallen prey to this trap. The matter came to light after the police spotted a girl and two youngsters under suspicious circumstances and started an investigation. 

The arrested have been booked under charges of POCSO for luring girls under the pretext of love and attempting to kidnap them.
