Kozhikode: An investigation should be conducted regarding the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple, demanded BJP state president K Surendran. While speaking to reporters on Saturday, Surendran said that the police should not only investigate the ‘Thrissur Pooram disruption’ but also the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple.

“Women were sneaked into the Sabarimala temple with the support of the police. There was a ‘police conspiracy’ behind it,” he said.

“It was KT Jaleel who had said that Malappuram was the center of gold smuggling. He had asked Thangal to advise ‘their people’ not to indulge in gold smuggling. The BJP doesn’t go mad hearing the name of Malappuram,” Surendran added.

“CPM tried to trap me in a fake case in connection with the Manjeshwar election. But, finally, the truth prevailed,” he said regarding the court verdict that acquitted him in the election bribery case. “The government, which takes an antagonistic approach against me, goes soft on the leader of the opposition. The ‘punarjani’ case against VD Satheesan is not being followed up vigorously,” Surendran alleged, hinting at secret ties with Congress and CPM .

The Kasaragod Sessions Court has acquitted K Surendran and six others in connection with the Manjeshwar election bribery case. The case was related to the allegation that Surendran had abducted K Sundara, BSP candidate in the Manjeshwar constituency, and had forcibly withdraw his nomination papers. It was alleged that Sundara was given a bribe of Rs. 2.5 lakhs and a mobile phone for this purpose.
