Payyannur, Kerala: Vlogger Jyoti Malhotra, arrested on charges of espionage for Pakistan, is suspected to have visited a temple in Payyannur, Kerala. According to reports, Malhotra was at the Kaasipuram Sree Vanasastha Temple in Palakkad, based on a video she recorded during a local festival.

Intelligence agencies and police have launched a joint investigation into her visit, which is believed to have happened in January. A still from the video showing Malhotra receiving offerings during a Theyyam ritual has been cited as evidence of her presence.

Malhotra was reportedly on a seven-day visit to Kerala at the time. She is currently in the custody of the investigative agency.

Earlier, videos surfaced showing her walking through Lahore's Anarkali Bazaar under armed escort. Her visit to Pakistan allegedly took place shortly before the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. According to officials, Malhotra maintained regular communication with members of Pakistan's ISI.

On May 26, the court sent Jyoti to judicial custody for fourteen days.

The YouTuber was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen.

She allegedly met a Pakistani officer, Ahsan-ur-Rahim, in Delhi, travelled to Pakistan twice, and shared sensitive information. During the preliminary investigation, the woman told the police that she went to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in 2023 to apply for a visa and met a man named Ahsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish.

Malhotra was among the 12 people arrested from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh following Operation Sindoor on suspicion of espionage, with investigators suspecting the presence of a Pakistan-linked spy network operating in north India.

The Hisar native ran a YouTube channel -- "Travel with JO". She was arrested at the New Aggarsain Extension and booked under provisions of the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
