Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has raised concerns over the death of vlogger Junaid in a road accident, questioning whether it was truly an accident or a deliberate act. He also claimed that it is now impossible to prove Junaid’s innocence or guilt in the case against him.
In a Facebook post, Sasidharan wrote: "This death is a very mysterious one. A few days ago, he was charged in connection with a rape complaint. When I noticed a hate campaign against him, it seemed far more intense than what would naturally occur. I saw on a YouTube channel that he had made a video denying the allegations. However, instead of letting him speak, the video was edited in a way that interrupted and mocked his statements.
I searched for news about his vlog, but in none of the reports did I find his full name. There was no mention of which vlog he ran—just that ‘vlogger Junaid died in an accident.’ Now, it is impossible for him to prove whether he was innocent or guilty.
He passed away while social media was flooded with videos and posts mocking him. We don’t even know if he died in an accident or was killed. But in the end, those who judged him without hearing his side of the story no longer have to worry about the truth. They will simply move on to their next target."
The accident reportedly happened when Junaid’s bike skidded after hitting a roadside mud embankment at Karakunnu, Manjeri. Bus workers were the first to spot him lying on the roadside, bleeding profusely. He had sustained injuries to the back of his head. Although he was rushed to Manjeri Medical College Hospital, he could not be saved.
