Kottayam: Biji Kurian, a Kooroppada native and former special correspondent of the Deshabhimani Daily, passed away on Friday. He was 60.
The mortal remains will be brought to his residence on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. The funeral will be held at St. John's Orthodox Church, Kooroppada, at 3 p.m. He retired from Deshabhimani last year.
He is the son of Ret. Professor, the late C. V. Kurian and former PWD employee C. K. Mariayamma. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Elizabeth, and his children, Abu B. Kurian and Ribu B. Joseph.
He joined the editorial board of Deshabhimani in 1996 after working for Janani and Mangalam newspapers. He was twice a member of the Kerala Journalists Union State Committee. He also worked as the KUWJ coordination secretary, Deshabhimani.
He is the recipient of the Best Reporter award from the Pravasi Malayalee Welfare Association.
