Kochi: Johnny Nellore, the Deputy Chairman of Kerala Congress (Joseph faction), who tendered his resignation on Wednesday, refuted reports of the BJP backing and the formation of new party for Christians.
He asserted that the aim is to form a secular party having national importance. An official announcement in this regard will be made in the coming days, he said.
Speaking at a press conference in Kochi, Nellore slammed the UDF and pointed out the sufferings of farmers in the state. “The need to form a political party that speaks for the farmers is what led to the move,” he said.
He highlighted the plight faced by rubber and paddy farmers.
