Thiruvananthapuram: Janam TV MD and CEO GK Pillai has passed away here on Tuesday. He was 71. He died of a heart attack while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore.
Apart from being a management expert and social activist, he also served as RSS Palakkad Nagar Sanghachalak and Sevabharathi Palakkad District President.
GK Pillai, who graduated from BITS Pilani in 1973, worked in the manufacturing field in the public and private sectors for over 47 years. He was the Managing Director and CEO of Walchandnagar Industries Limited.
After retiring in March 2020, he was serving as the Director and Consultant of Walchandnagar Industries Limited. He was the Chairman and Managing Director of Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited Ranchi and HMT Machine Tools Limited Bengaluru, two of India's largest engineering public sector companies.
