Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film 'Jana Nayagan' will now hit screens slightly later than planned on release day, after the makers announced a change in the timing of the first show in Kerala.

The makers of 'Jana Nayagan', starring Thalapathy Vijay in what will be his final on-screen appearance, have confirmed that the much-anticipated 4 am first show has been cancelled and rescheduled to 6 am on January 9.

In an official statement issued by SSR Entertainments, the production house clarified that while efforts were made to retain the early-morning premiere, approvals could not be secured due to issues arising outside Kerala.

“We have made every possible effort to conduct the first show of 'Jana Nayagan' in Kerala at 4 am. Initially, permission for the 4 am show was granted by the producer’s side. However, due to the current situation and certain issues arising in Tamil Nadu, the 4 am show could not be approved,” the statement said.

As a result, the first screening in Kerala will now take place at 6.00 AM. The makers also issued an apology to fans, stating, “We sincerely apologise to all Kerala Thalapathy fans for the inconvenience caused. We strongly believe that the January 9, 6 am show will be wholeheartedly supported and made a grand success by the fans.”

Sharing the update on social media, the team added a caption reading, “With respect and gratitude to Kerala Thalapathy fans. The first show of Jananayakan will be at 6:00 AM. Let’s celebrate together.”

Directed by H Vinoth, 'Jana Nayagan' features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, and Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film has generated unprecedented buzz as it marks Vijay’s final acting venture before his full-time plunge into politics.

Vijay, who launched his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has repeatedly stated that 'Jana Nayagan'—his 69th film—will be his last. Addressing supporters at a rally earlier this year, the actor-turned-politician reaffirmed his decision to quit cinema and focus on public service, ahead of his plans to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

With emotions running high among fans, 'Jana Nayagan' is expected to witness massive openings across South India despite the revised show timings.
