Kottayam: Minister VN Vasavan and LDF candidate for the Puthuppally bypoll Jaick C Thomas turned good samaritans for road accident victims at Thiruvankulam, here on Monday. The CPM leaders carried the badly injured people to the hospital in their vehicles. Later on, Minister NV Vasavan shared a note and pictures of the incident on his official Facebook account.

“We took the accident victims to a hospital in our vehicles, Jaick and I had left the building only after ensuring proper medical attention for those individuals,” the minister said in his note.

“It was an utter shock to watch the victims lie on the road in a pool of blood unattended. I don’t understand the logic behind the public's fear to help accident victims. In fact the government has been very supportive to those who rescue such victims. We shall never lose our humanity,” the minister said.

The people’s representative also recalled how several lives were lost in road accidents just because of the reluctance of the public in helping out such victims; in many cases, the injured tend to lose their lives owing to the delay in receiving medical attention.
