Jacobite church dismisses Metropolitan's offer to support BJP if Centre resolves church dispute

Kottayam: Jacobite church has dismissed the statement made by Thomas Mor Alexandrios, Metropolitan of Mumbai diocese, that they would support BJP if central government resolves the church dispute. Jacobite church clarified through a press release that this was not the official position of the church and that Thomas Mor Alexandrios made the statement to Mathrubhumi News without the approval of the official committee.

The official press release was issued by the synod secretary of Jacobite church, Thomas Mar Timotheos. It stated that the church was not aware of such a statement being made by the Metropolitan. The statement came at a time when discussions were being held under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the dispute.

Thomas Mor Alexandrios had stated that Jacobite faction supported LDF during LSG polls and that they would support BJP in the Assembly election if the central government finds a solution to the problem.
