Elisa and her husband John, who live in Dubai, have been together for eight years.

Dubai: An Italian woman has come forward alleging racial harassment after marrying a Kerala native, saying she has repeatedly faced hateful comments online because of her intercultural marriage.
Through their Instagram account @elisaandjohn, the woman, Elisa, shared a video addressing the abuse. “We’ve heard it all — ‘You don’t match.’ ‘Indians aren’t for European women.’ ‘This won’t last.’ But love isn’t measured by race, passports, or skin tones,” she wrote.
Elisa and her husband John, who live in Dubai, have been together for eight years. She added, “ Today, we’re not just celebrating our wedding. We’re standing tall for every interracial, intercultural couple who’s ever been judged or doubted. To all the hate — we’re not here to stay quiet. We’re here to shine louder.”
One user wrote, “Sad! All you found is Indian guy? They are good for nothing.” Elisa shared a screenshot of the comment in a video.
The couple’s Instagram page, elisaandjohn, documents their travels and life together.
“8 Years. Countless Comments. One Love. We’ve heard it all — “You don’t match.” “Indians aren’t for European women.” “This won’t last.” But love isn’t measured by race, passports, or skin tones. We’re Elisa and John — Italian and Indian — and we’ve chosen love over hate, again and again, for 8 years straight.
Today, we’re not just celebrating our wedding. We’re standing tall for every interracial, intercultural couple who’s ever been judged or doubted. To all the hate — we’re not here to stay quiet. We’re here to shine louder,” she wrote in Instagram, along with a video,” she wrote in one of the videos.
