Thiruvananthapuram: General Education Minister V Sivankutty on Tuesday said that the General Education Department has not decided to reduce Onam holidays. Social media reports suggesting the government made such a decision are completely fake, he clarified.
The minister posted his rebuttal on his official Facebook handle, making it clear that the department has not taken any such step and that the government is not considering changes in its holiday policy.
Earlier, some reports had also suggested that influential religious bodies in the state backed the government on the matter.
Warning against fake news
The minister alleged that false news was being spread deliberately. He reminded that preparing and circulating such fake messages is unlawful and urged people to avoid spreading wrong information.
