Thiruvananthapuram: Principal secretary of the Power Department Rajesh Kumar Sinha will investigate the allegations raised by Electricity board Chairman Dr B Ashok. An order has been issued by Minister K Krishankutty in this regard and the final report need to be submitted within a week.

Allegations raised by the chairman over irregularities in the electricity board will be examined along with complaints lodged by the left unions.

LDF Convener A Vijayaraghavan, CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran and CITU General Secretary Elamaram Kareem will hold discussions on Thursday with the protesting left unions of the board.

Earlier, KSEB chairman levelled irregularities in the board through a social media post which was in response to the leaders who declared a strike.

He penned a note over the rising protests by left unions against the management's decision to hand over the security of the KSEB headquarters building to the State Industrial Security Force (SISF). He also pointed out that the last salary revision was without the permission from the government and that the IG has pointed out this matter.

The main demand of the left unions is to withdraw deployment of the Industrial Security Force in Vaidyuthi Bhavan. The unions have also demanded removing the chairman from the post.

Former Electricity Minister MM Mani and former LDF ministry came under immense scrutiny due to the allegations raised by the chairman.

Meanwhile, irregularities over purchase of electricity during the tenure of Minister Aryadan Mohammad have also resurfaced. The allegations cast now cannot be dismissed by mere investigation. The chairman revealed that the board had not followed the procedures for the transfer of land and had even leaked the tender details to the contractors in advance.
