Thiruvananthapuram: The number of people who sought treatment for fever in the state was 15,493 on Monday. Around 200 persons were admitted to various hospitals in different districts. The health department has confirmed that one person died due to fever in Thiruvananthapuram, one in Palakkad due to dengue, and one in Kollam due to rat fever. A person in Navaikulam in Thiruvananthapuram was affected by Chikungunya.
The increase in the number of fever cases was due to the combined count taken on Sunday and Monday. The Health Department provided the details from hospitals along with Monday's count as Sunday was a holiday. On Sunday, 4,976 individuals sought medical treatment.
In Malappuram, 2,804 persons were reported to be suffering from fever on Monday. 317 people sought treatment for dengue fever in various districts on Monday. 11 people sought treatment for leptospirosis from Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Wayanad districts. Eight people are currently hospitalized for H1N1.
