Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will inform the Supreme Court about the practical difficulties in implementing the direction of maintaining 1-km buffer zone around forests and sanctuaries across the country.
The emphasis will be on the special situation of the state. The state government will join party along with the union government against the top court order and the practical difficulty will be highlighted in its application.
Kerala feels that the context of each protected region is specific and one-for-all approach is not practical for buffer zone. The state will also draw the attention of the apex court to the various interventions made by it to create buffer zone and how it works with environment ministry for the same.
Interestingly, the ministry has been considering some recommendations related to protected regions. The state government’s contentions before the union government will be on this angle. Apart from that concerns over residential areas will also be detailed.
