CPM`s MV Govindan vows to eliminate poverty in Kerala, aiming for developed nation living standards. Challenges opposition leader VD Satheesan on his agenda.

Kozhikode: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan said that if the government continues, the very usage of the word ‘poor’ in Malayalam will cease to exist. If the party retains power, this term will come to an end. Speaking to the media in Kozhikode, he said that there would be no category called the poor in Kerala to describe the people.
He said the aim is to bring the people of Kerala to the same standard of living as those in the developed or semi-developed nations. Transforming Kerala into such a place is their objective.
He challenged VD Satheesan to state his agenda. Kerala’s development does not figure in VD Satheesan’s march, he said. Satheesan is the coordinator of the IUML–Jamaat alliance, Govindan alleged, adding that lying is the approach of the Leader of the Opposition. He also accused Satheesan of having said that Rajeev Chandrasekhar has no communal agenda, and that Jamaat-e-Islami too is not communal. “Is this also the stand of the high command?” Govindan asked.
MV Govindan also launched a sharp attack on PV Anvar. “A new product has arrived in Beypore — PV Anvar,” he said. He added that the people of Beypore will embrace the Left with a massive majority. Govindan was speaking at the reception held in the Beypore constituency as part of the LDF’s development march.
