Kochi: Swapna Suresh, the accused in the controversial case of gold smuggling through the diplomatic channel, said that she is facing a threat to her life. She said she will soon reveal the details of the case.
I have told the court about everyone involved in the case. I will reveal everything to the public after finishing the recording of my statement in the court, she said.
The recording of the secret statement of Swapna will continue on Tuesday as well. The special court for financial crimes is recording the statement of Swapna in the money-laundering case related to the gold smuggling.
The gold smuggling case had rattled Kerala in 2020 due to the close connection of the accused with Sivasankar IAS, the then principal secretary to the chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Swapna was employed by PwC in a government project.
Swapna had said that she will respond later when released from jail in November 2021. She spoke against Sivasankar when the latter released an autobiographical book.
Swapna, the former secretary at UAE’s consulate general’s Thiruvananthapuram office, was arrested in July 2020 on charges of gold smuggling.
