Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V D Satheesan has taken his oath as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Paravur. Satheesan took the oath in the name of God. During the swearing-in ceremony as an MLA, he once again included his father's name, 'Damodara Menon'. This follows recent discussions sparked by his prior swearing-in ceremony, where he took the oath as Chief Minister.

During that ministerial oath, he stated, "I, Vadassery Damodara Menon Satheesan," which drew criticism for including the caste title 'Menon' from his father's name in the official affirmation. He later responded to the backlash surrounding the issue.

Dismissing the allegations over the inclusion of his father's name during the swearing-in, Satheesan explained that it is entirely natural for him to read his full name, noting that it is recorded this way in his passport and other official documents.

He further clarified that his parents had passed away before he first became an MLA, and he used his father's full name to honour their memory. He added that he had also wished to include his mother's name alongside his father's, and felt sad that he did not get the opportunity to do so. Stating that he speaks the names of his parents with pride, Satheesan repeated the practice during his swearing-in ceremony as an MLA.
